If you can't answer 'what does the AI summary feature cost us per active user per month', you can't optimize. The minimal instrumentation that gives you that answer.

Tag every call

The first move is tagging every LLM call with the feature it serves. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Bedrock all support metadata or trace tags.
